Inspired by classic talk and variety shows, but with a distinctly modern-day sensibility, “The Megan Mullally Show” will tip its hat to cross-generational audiences with its launch on September 18, 2006 (check local listings). Emmy Award-winner Megan Mullally, coming off eight seasons as wisecracking, drink-tipping socialite Karen Walker on NBC’s “Will & Grace,” moves into the driver’s seat as host for this daytime talk show. Corin Nelson, veteran daytime producer and winner of five Emmy Awards as showrunner on “The Rosie O’Donnell Show,” serves as Executive Producer. NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution, the studio behind such series as “Access Hollywood,” and Emmy-nominated “Martha,” will distribute this one-hour daily talk/variety program for the upcoming season. Based in Los Angeles, this nationally syndicated strip marks a culmination of both Mullally’s childhood dreams and professional talents, and will incorporate aspects from some of America’s greatest talk and variety shows of the past.

The multi-talented Mullally has been entertaining audiences for over two decades. She shared the Broadway stage with Rosie O’Donnell in a 1994 production of Grease, and earned kudos the following year opposite Matthew Broderick in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. An equal passion of Mullally’s is music, and, as founder and lead singer of the band Supreme Music Program, she has performed at such prestigious venues as The Kennedy Center, Chicago’s Goodman Theater and New York’s Lincoln Center.

It’s been her award-winning work in television, however, that has endeared Mullally to millions from a series regular role on the mid-80s sitcom “The Ellen Burstyn Show,” to guest star spots on “Seinfeld,” “Frasier,” “Just Shoot Me!” and other series, to her signature role on “Will & Grace.” Along with an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, she has also earned an American Comedy Award for Funniest Supporting Female Performer in a TV Series and three back-to-back SAG Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series. Those who know Megan see her as a talented performer and they also recognize in her those qualities that make classic talk show hosts the best in the business: wit, warmth, and confidence. An engaging personality who genuinely connects with people, whether famous or not. It’s this winning combination that makes Megan a favorite celebrity guest for talk shows. And it’s those same qualities that convinced the producers of “The Late Show with David Letterman” to call on Megan to host his show in March 2003 while he was sidelined by shingles. Impressed by her hosting chops during the “Letterman” stint, none other than the media-savvy Madonna insisted that Mullally serve as interviewer for her subsequent VH1 special, leading the “Will & Grace” star to further hosting opportunities on “Saturday Night Live” and, most recently, the 4th Annual TV Land Awards.

“The Megan Mullally Show” will be an entertaining hour featuring a mix of celebrities, real people, music and comedy. Megan will interview top celebrities and also introduce the world to guests of all kinds-from quirky characters to funny kids to off-beat experts. Led by a host who is warm, witty and relatable, “The Megan Mullally Show” will bring the best of classic and current talk-variety television to the daytime audience this fall.
